For foreign countries – general invitation of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia to visit Baltic States


On 28-31 October, 60 outbound tourism organizers from foreign countries will participatein the business mission “Baltic Connecting 2015” organized by the  State Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy (hereinafter - the SDT) which will be held in Vilnius. This is the largest and most significant common platform of Baltic States for tourism professionals. Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian tourism professionals will unite for the 9th time.

The aim of business mission “Baltic Connecting 2015” is to attract new business contacts for the tourism business of Lithuania, and together for all three Baltic States and to promote it, as well as promote tourism services and increase tourist traffic from potential markets. During the event, participants from Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Israel, United Kingdom, Latvia, Poland, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, France, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and Germany not only will discuss cooperation with tourism business of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia at the Fair of Contacts, but also will directly assess tourism opportunities of all three Baltic States in sightseeing tours.

“Close cooperation among three Baltic States in tourism area opens up wider possibilities for the formation of image as favourable tourism trends of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. On the first half of 2015, statistics of inbound tourism flow illustrates the growth from distant markets, i.e. from countries whose inhabitants want to visit all three Baltic countries in one trip. For instance, this year, in January-June, the number of tourists from Japan has increased in our country even by 60.7 percent, as well as from China (+81.7 percent), Israel (+33.6 percent), the US (+2.6 per cent),” states Deputy Minister of Economy Rasa Noreikiene.

According to her, the trip to all three Baltic States during one holiday is attractive to European markets too, such as France (the number of tourists from this country during the first half of this year has increased by 11.6 percent in Lithuania), Spain (+36.4 percent) and Kingdom of the Netherlands (+ 21.5 percent). By the way, Israel tourism business is interested in the business mission in Vilnius actively: even six tourism operators from this country will attend an event.

On 28 October, almost one hundred organizers of Lithuanian inbound tourism, providers of SPA, wellness and accommodation services, organizers of conferences and events, representatives of Lithuanian tourism information centres will present their services and discuss opportunities for cooperation during the Contact Fair of “Baltic Connecting 2015” at Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Centre LITEXPO.

After the Contact Fair, foreign tour operators will participate in sightseeing tours around Lithuania. During the tour of cultural and urban tourism they will be familiarised with the Old Town of Vilnius, its architectural heritage and legends. In Trakai, they will visit elected as one of Europe’s most beautiful medieval castles Trakai Castle, will sail by boat on Lake Galve, taste Karaite cuisine, visit the recreation park “Tony Resort”. In Kaunas, tourism professionals from foreign countries will be familiarised with M K Ciurlionis personality and his works, pearls of Old Town, unique wellness complex “Monte Pacis” in Pažaislis monastery. Culmination of the tour of cultural and urban tourism will be a concert of Lithuanian State Symphony Orchestra in the capital’s Congress Hall.

Selecting active-SPA-cultural tourism route, they will also have the opportunity to admire the Old Town of Vilnius, then will go to the most famous Lithuanian resorts in Druskininkai and Birstonas. Here, they will not only visit hotels, but also other outstanding tourism attractions and try the SPA services.

On the second day of tour, after visiting Kaunas, and Pazaislis monastery, foreign tour operators will travel to Anyksciai. Here they not only will visit entertainment and sports centre “Kalita hill”, but also tourism innovations of the town: Treetop Walking Path in Anyksciai Regional Park and wellness and treatment SPA centre “SPA Vilnius Anyksciai” in Alyksciai wood. The end of the tour is scheduled at 19th century Burbiskis Manor.

Latvians will introduce for participants of business mission the capital Riga and Zemgale region famous for its castles, Estonians – city and SPA tourism in Tallinn and Pärnu cities.
