The Participants of Buy Lithuania 2015 will Develop Travel Options to Travel to Lithuania

Buy Lithuania 2015, the event organised by the State Department of Tourism (SDT) will take place on January 23-25 for the 12th time. This is the third time when this annual platform for travel professionals will be held at the international tourism, travel and active leisure exhibition ADVENTUR 2015. In twelve years of Buy Lithuania, our country as a destination has been presented for already almost a thousand of tour operators and travel agencies looking for new travel destinations for tourists from such countries like Belarus, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Poland, the Netherlands, Norway, France, Russia, Sweden, Ukraine, Germany, etc.

"This year's Buy Lithuania will be unique for its participants for several reasons. First of all, they will be able to officially introduce Lithuania for their tourists as a destination, which was awarded with the third place among ten most recommended places to visit in 2015 by the Lonely Planet, the world's most popular travel guide. Secondly, this month our country has become the newest member of the eurozone and common currency will undoubtedly facilitate travel options around Lithuania and make them more attractive for many tourists." says Jurgita Kazlauskienė, the Director of the SDT. 

 

According to her, the international tourism, travel and active leisure exhibition ADVENTUR 2015 is expanding and holds important positions in the tourism market of both Lithuania and the entire region. This opens broader perspectives for partnership and business contacts of the participants of Buy Lithuania.

 

This year Buy Lithuania Contact Fair will create an opportunity to discuss ideas of business tourism and cooperation with 80 tour operators and agency professionals from 16 countries. The participants of the even include 120 registered Lithuanian inbound tourism agencies, SPA and wellness service providers, conference and event organisers, providers of accommodation services, as well as representatives of Lithuanian tourist information centres.

 

Spanish and Ukrainian tourism business have shown a particular interest in participating at Buy Lithuania this year – as much as 30 Ukrainian tour operators and agencies have registered and expressed their wish to get to know the newest Lithuanian tourism products.

 

After the Contact Fair Buy Lithuania, its participants will be offered a two-day themed tours around Lithuania: SPA and Wellness Opportunities in Lithuania (visits to Kalita Hill in Anykščiai, Druskininkai Recreation and Health Centre, the Snow Arena and SPA hotels), Cultural and City Tourism (with a tour around Vilnius old town, Kaunas, Pažaislis monastery and Trakai castle), as well as City Tourism and the Amber Way (with amber stations of the capital, an evening at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre, a tour around Trakai castle and an amber sauna at a rural homestead). During the tours the participants will be introduced to local accommodation, catering institutions and objects of tourism.

 

This business mission is a part of the project The Development of Tourism Information Services and Infrastructure and Promotion of Tourism Marketing (VP3-1.3-ŪM-04-V-11-002). This business mission was initiated by the State Department of Tourism under the Ministry of Economy, it is implemented and financed according to the Cohesion Promotion Action Programme funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
