Wayne’s World Media Group: “We Will Help Americans to Discover Lithuania”

Comprehensive measures of marketing tourism to Lithuania in the USA will be provided by the company Wayne’s World Media Group. This week, an agreement was officially signed by the State Tourism Department under the Ministry of Economy and the marketing and integrated communication company for a period of 30 months (until 2020). 

“The main objectives set for the marketing company include increasing the popularity of Lithuania in the USA as the country which is attractive and safe in terms of tourism as well as improving its image. One of the priorities is also looking for possibilities of more convenient transportation. The audience, which will be targeted most, includes not only Americans but also expatriate Lithuanians and litvaks,” notes Indrė Šlyžiūtė, a Chief Specialist of the Incoming Tourism Subdivision of the Tourism Department, who is responsible for the coordination of Lithuanian tourism marketing in the USA market.

Wayne’s World Media Group, established in New York, has been in operation since 2010. Its clients include the Polish Airline LOT, the European Commission, the European Travel Commission, the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) as well as tourism bureaux of the Czech Republic, Australia, the Philippines and Hungary, etc.

The company will focus on electronic marketing and work with the media. It will organise training courses and study tours for tourism specialists. In addition, together with consular agencies and embassies, it will hold events to raise awareness of Lithuania’s tourism possibilities and take part in tourism exhibitions.

According to Wayne W. Lee, a representative of Wayne’s World Media Group, who took part in the study tour around Lithuania organised on 19-22 May by the Tourism Department for all representatives of Lithuanian tourism abroad, Americans might be most interested in Lithuania’s diversity: “In such a small territory, you have so much of everything – from the high cuisine to ethnographic Samogitian tasting in a real village, from rural homesteads to 5-star hotels, from cities full of history to natural nature, for instance, one day you might walk UNESCO streets in Vilnius, while on the next day you might navigate next to swan colonies in Lithuania Minor or watch cormorants in a national park in Nida.”

According to the statistics of accommodation institutions, last year Lithuania received 35.3 thousand tourists from the USA, i.e. almost 7 per cent more than in 2015. The number of nights they spent in our country’s accommodation institutions increased by a quarter – by 25.4 per cent, while the average duration of a stay increased by 17.3 per cent. During the first quarter of this year, the number of USA tourists, who stayed in Lithuania’s accommodation institutions, increased by 27 per cent.

Comprehensive services of marketing tourism to Lithuania are also provided by professional marketing and public relations companies in other priority markets of Lithuanian incoming tourism, such as the United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Japan, France and Norway.

The project is financed according to measure No 05.4.1-LVPA-V-812 “Marketing of national tourism routes, tracks and products and development of tourism marking infrastructure” of priority 5 “Environmental protection, sustainable use of natural resources and adaptation to climate change” of the Cohesion Promotion Operational Programme for 2014-2020 from the funds of the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget of the Republic of Lithuania.
